As a young lady, I fondly remember a magnet on my granddad’s refrigerator which read, ‘Eat to Live. Don’t Live to Eat’. From then, I made a conscious effort to eat really well. Nutrition is sacrosanct in our pursuit of healthy living. Food is fuel for our bodies. When you eat well, you live well. For many of us, myself included, preparing all these delectable meals is a mammoth undertaking. It takes time to pick out the freshest fruits and veggies.

Choosing the right proteins like chicken, fish and meat are equally important. For the vegans among us, pecan nuts, chickpeas, beans, green peas, tofu, and lentils are great substitutes for animal proteins. Things get a little more complicated for gluten-free and dairy free foodies out there, making the case for meal kit services – the topic of this guide.

It is against this backdrop that I decided to explore the many meal kit options available. While I was conducting my online research, I was struck by the high-quality meal kit services that are currently available. Consider the following household brands in the meal kits arena: Peach Dish, Green Chef, Purple Carrot, Terra’s Kitchen, HelloFresh, Martha and Marley Spoon, Sun Basket, Home Chef, and Plated.

The ever-increasing number of Meal Kit services makes it somewhat challenging to choose between them. To make it easier, I decided to tackle this from a different angle: What meals do I enjoy the most? Fish, meat, chicken, venison, fruit & veggies, deserts, vegan, dairy, nondairy, et cetera. There are a lot of options out there, but once you start narrowing things down to your preferences it gets a whole lot easier.

Picking A Meal Kit Service Made Easy

Many of us tailor our meals according to our budgetary constraints. That’s another point of departure – how much are you looking to spend with a meal kit service on a weekly, or monthly basis? Consider that when you sign up for these services, you invariably stick with them for a long time. If the food is good – and there is no reason to suggest it won’t be – you will likely find yourself accepting home deliveries of ready-to-prepare meals on a weekly basis.

Provided the meal kit company takes the time and effort to source the freshest foods and ingredients and pack them well for delivery, you likely will develop an affinity for these meals. Luckily, you don’t need to worry about routine menus becoming monotonous; meal kit services regularly change up their menus to ensure that customers never get tired of the same old offerings.

I am particularly partial to companies that provide maximum convenience to their customers. Perhaps it’s the middle of winter, it’s dinnertime, and you have to rush out to the store for a bunch of ingredients. How inconvenient! The icy winds and bitter cold are a major disincentive to preparing your own meals.

Fortunately, all of this can be avoided by choosing the right meal kits service for your needs. I searched far and wide for information about how to choose one service over another. Eventually, I stumbled upon a comprehensive guide titled: MyUniversityMoney’s best meal kits list. I was fascinated and decided to use this information to supplement my own research.
